Alkalizing your body is the first step in balancing your body’s alkaline to acid state. We were all born alkaline-it was our introduction to acidic processed foods, drinks, polluted air, chemicals and stress that began the slow but definite journey toward an acidic body.  An acidic body is an environment that invites disease, an environment that disease thrives in.  Disease cannot thrive in an alkaline body because disease feeds on acid.  Get your body back to an alkaline state and your body can begin to heal itself naturally.  Continue to consume an acidic western diet, subject yourself to chemicals and pollution without an active way to neutralize that acid, continue to not manage your stress and you invite disease to you.
An alkaline diet is the quickest way to begin to alkalize your body.  To begin, eliminate all processed foods, dairy, meat, sugar and processed drinks from your diet.  Eat only plant-based foods such as lots of green leafy vegetables, other veggies such as cucumbers, peppers, carrots, celery, tomatoes, natural grains such as brown rice and quinoa, legumes such as beans, peas and lintels, eat raw seeds and nuts. It is best to eat organic foods whenever possible, but when it is not possible, be sure to wash your produce well to eliminate the pesticides from the skins.  Drink plenty of good healthy water.
Consuming an alkaline diet will help, but many find it way too difficult to stick to such a strict regimen.  Most people do not want to give up their meat and potatoes, occasional alcoholic beverage or the occasional junk food.  Many people don’t have a deep desire to become a strict vegetarian, so alkalizing then becomes a big challenge.  This is where Kangen Water® comes in.

Alkalize Your Body With A Great Salad Every Day

Alkalizing your body consists of adding more alkaline foods to your diet as well as alkaline water.  Fresh organic vegetables are your main alkaline foods, but there are some fruits that also assist your alkalizing efforts.  The green leafy veggies such as spinach and romaine lettuce are great alkaline foods as well as cucumbers, bell peppers of all colors, avocados, sprouts, and many more. 

Back to the salad.  What makes a great salad?  I am the designated veggie tray and salad maker at all of our family gatherings.  Most of my family are not huge veggie eaters but they they love my veggie trays and salads.  Sometimes I have a salad that I munch on all through the day- a bite here and a bite there.  When a friend or relative shows up and sees a salad I'm eating for the first time, they remark about it- they've never seen a salad like that.

Here is my most favorite salad for alkalizing
  • Romaine lettuce, baby spinach and spring mix.  Spring mix is like eating weeds and can be strong tasting for someone not used to it.  Mix small amounts in with the other greens at first until you get used to it- then add more until you get about 1/3 of each of the three types of greens listed here.  I don't eat iceburg lettuce because it has no taste and practically no nutritional value.
  • Cucumbers.  I am extremely sad when the garden season is over and I have to resort to store bought cucumbers.  They are just nasty.  Usually I have to buy whatever is available and peel them due to the thick waxy coating- you know what I'm talking about.  Now, however the larger grocery stores are carrying more organic foods so I occasionally go out on a trek for organic.  I live in a small rural area so I have to drive minimum 30 minutes for decent organics.  The best cucumbers I've found this winter are those baby cucumbers that come 5 or 7 to a package.  I clean them off with my ionizer's 11.5pH water to strip off the pesticides (I haven't found these in organic yet).  These cucumbers are to die for- a really good match for home grown.
  • Radishes, grape tomatoes, bell peppers of all colors, bean sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, a few shredded carrots and anything else you can think of.  I slice or chop these veggies except for the sprouts and tomatoes.
  • Almonds, flax seed, sesame seeds, raw sunflower seeds.  If I use all of these I am careful to go easy on them because seeds and nuts tend to be high in calories.  Of course if you soak your seeds and nuts overnight they are much better for you because soaking allows them to release their enzymes- healthy, healthy, healthy for you.  Almonds are the most alkaline nut by the way.  Flax seeds are not only very high in fiber but also high in omega 3's. 
  • Small handful of raisins.  I use raisins or dried cranberries.  Why?  Because I don't use salad dressings- salad dressings in a bottle are very acidic mostly due to the vinegar that is used, and they are processed and contain preservatives- all leading to more acid in your body. These little dried fruit add just enough natural sweetness to my salads to offset the lemon I squeeze on my salads.
  • Lemons -though they are acidic, they metabolize alkaline in your body.  Crazy as it seems it is true.  Lemons and limes are the most alkalizing of the fruit family.  Unsweet grapefruits are also alkaline.  Squeeze some lemon on your salad to boost the alkalinity of your salad. Some people eat salad dressings made of vinegar and oil- I use lemon and olive oil.  White vinegar is something you should stay away from except for cleaning purposes.
  • Olive oil.  Olive oil should be cold pressed.  It is very good for you- boosts your good cholesterol.  Though oils are fattening, what I've read is that you can use quite a bit of this especially if you don't eat meat- your body needs some fat so make sure its the right kind.
  • Bacon bits occasionally in small amounts.  This is where I cheat a little.  I know bacon is not good for you, and I buy the cooked and packaged kind.  All bacon has nitrates in it that is terrible for you.  But I don't eat a lot of meat, I eat a lot of veggies and occasionally like a few times a week I will sprinkle just a little on my salad for taste.  Occasionally I might also put some chopped chicken in my salad.
There you have it.  The key to keeping your salad fresh in the fridge is to store it dry.  Buy the pre-washed chopped romaine.  Dump it into a very large Tupperware container along with organic baby spinach and organic spring mix.  Mix in some shredded carrots- not a lot because they are a high sugar and high starch veggie.  Don't rinse your greens- just put the lid on and refrigerate.   Don't mix any of the other veggies into this bowl of salad. This salad mix can last up to two weeks if you don't eat it first. 

All of the other vegetables should be washed thoroughly, pat dry, chop and store separately by type in bowls.  I do this because sometimes peppers or cucumbers will go bad quicker and I don't want to ruin the rest of my veggies.  Keeping your chopped veggies dry and separated by type will last you over a week in a lot of cases.  If you can't get them dry after washing them, put a paper towel in the bowl to soak up the moisture.  A lot of times I leave a paper towel in the bowl. 

Preparing this masterpiece can take a few hours out of your week, but by doing this you have a salad that will last you a week or more if you don't eat it all first.

Safer Plastics For Drinking Water- Choose BPA Free Plastic Bottles

We are now in a plastics revolution where we are hearing how dangerous plastics are to our health and to our environment.  Some countries have banned the selling of plastic bottles that water and other beverages are sold in.  A safer plastic for drinking out of is BPA Free which is short for Bisphenol A.  BPA is a dangerous chemical that contains a hormone disrupter that can cause all kinds of health problems leading to more acid in your body.  People everywhere are concerned about the chemicals found in plastics and are making the switch.

Bisphenol A has been linked to increased risk of some types of cancer, neurological problems, obesity and many other health problems.  I monitor my body's alkaline level and I am an avid water drinker.  I drink only the best water available which comes from an alkaline water ionizer.  The properties of this water allow a faster absorption of nutrients so it only makes sense that it would also absorb dangerous chemicals more quickly than other types of water.  I got very concerned about using my old water container, especially because after years of washing it had scratches inside which leads to faster and more risky leaching making it even more dangerous.  I began my search for a BPA free bottle that I would love as much as my old one.

I wasn't looking forward to changing to a different style of drinking container until I found the CamelBak BPA free bottle.  I decided to take a chance and ordered one.  I love this bottle!  It holds one liter (34 ounces), has a screw top lid with a straw attached to the valve which is housed by the lid.  It also came with a bite valve on it but I found that piece tedious because I drink at least a gallon of water a day so this bite valve made my jaws sore.  I just took that piece off and it works great.  The valve you drink from is like an extension of the straw - another thing I like is drinking from a straw because it causes me to drink more water.  That valve flips down so that the bottle doesn't leak.  This bottle fits in most drink holders found in vehicles so it is very convenient.

Water is not JUST Water- Does Your Water Excite You?

Do you take water for granted?  Do you have conversations with your friends about how great your tap water at home is?  Do you feel like your body comes alive when you drink your water, your favorite bottled water- if you have one?  Do you even drink water?

You may think I'm crazy but I LOVE MY WATER!!!  My water gives me energy, gives me a feeling of well being, gives me the ability to think more clearly, detoxifies me, alkalizes me, super-hydrates me and much much more. Did you know that most diseases arise due to a lack of stable oxygen?  My water gives my body the right kind of oxygen. 

I do have conversations with everyone I come in contact with about my water.  Why?  Because people just think water is water.  But they don't realize that water is suppose to make you feel good.  However, if you are drinking water from your tap you are getting chemicals, prescription drugs and other contaminants that are flushed into our water tables.  You are also getting poisonous chlorine and possibly fluoride from your water.  If you haven't seen how dangerous chlorine and fluoride are for you, then google it and find out.  You will be shocked!

To find out what's in your tap water go to  What's In My Water   and find out.   Worse yet is "bottled water."  Bottled water is packaged in bottles that leach dangerous chemicals into the water you drink out of it.  Bottled water is not any better than tap water, it is acidic and only adds to the health problems people face today.  It is also just another "racket" to get people to pay for something else they could get for cheaper- like tap water.  Do you know that for a family of four over a 15 year period bottled water will cost you tens of thousands of dollars?  Ridiculous!

Only the water you find high in the mountains from the melting glaciers will give your body what it needs to thrive and heal itself.  I don't know about you but I can't run up to the mountains every time I need a gallon of drinking water.  So instead, I got a water generator that ZAPS my water giving it the properties of that water high in the mountains.
